Records are made to be broken. Except for maybe one; The world record Largemouth Bass. 85 years ago today, on Thursday June 2, 1932 a man by the name of George Perry landed the the envy of all recreational fishing records; a 22lb 4oz Largemouth bass.
As the legend goes, Perry was fishing on Montgomery Lake, Georgia with long time friend Jack Paige. The two were fishing from a hand crafted wood boat Perry had built, and were taking turns casting with a single rod. The 20year old farmer had no idea that his turn to cast would yield the standard for bass anglers for nearly the next century.
In this week’s Friday flick we follow along with Augusta Outdoors, as host Rob Pavey interviews Bill Baab, author of the book, Remembering George W. Perry. Bill gives us great insight as to what happened that day, the legitimacy of the record, as well as the the bait of choice.
Hope you enjoy!
