Hunting gear is expensive. Buying a pair of boots and a new trail camera can empty your hunting budget before you even get a chance to step in the woods. If you are anything like me you are always looking for great deals to stretch a dollar a little further. Here are 5 places to find discounted hunting gear that are sure to not break the bank.
Camofire– Camofire is a website that gives you daily deals at a discounted price. Everyday they will post between 10 and 50 deals. The catch is they are only available during that time. If you find a deal that peaks your interest, you better be prepared to pull the trigger, because the deal wont be there the next day. Most of their gear is discontinued stock from manufacturers, or products with minor blemishes. If you don’t mind using last years technology or wearing cloths with the wrong thread color to sew on a button, Camofire is a great place to start.
Hunt of the Day– Hunt of the Day is another website that will give you daily deals. Very similar to Camofire, in the fact that most are discontinued stock. Hunt of the day tends to have fewer deals per day than camo fire, but its still a valuable place to find discounted hunting gear.
Sierra Trading Post– Sierra Trading post has no shot clock on purchasing items like the previous two websites, they sell their merchandise until inventory is out. Here you can find anything from sleeping bags and tents to hatchets and knifes. Most of their gear is focused on apparel though, so if you are in the market for new Sitka camo, or a pair of smartwool socks, this is a great option.
Super Centers– If you have ever shopped at Wal-mart, or in my neck of the woods Meijer, you have likely seen that their sporting goods section is in constant seasonal gear. After the hunting season is over, they switch the entire department from deer hunting to turkey hunting, and then they move their merchandise to focus more on fishing. Space for sporting goods is limited in these type of retailers, so as they switch from season to season they often discount gear in order to eliminate any overhead. These are great places to find discounted hunting gear after the season in preparation for next year’s hunt.
The Clymb– If you are a backcountry hunter, this is the site for you. While they don’t specialize in actual hunting equipment like bows, targets, and trail cameras, they do have a tremendous selection of hiking and camping gear. It is a membership site, but that membership is free, and they promise new deals every day. From tents, boots, packs, knives, and even GPS units, if you hunt deep into the bush, you will quickly fall in love with this site.
